Newborn Photo Shoot – In the comfort of your home
Finding the right newborn photographer can be tricky, there are so many websites, so many styles and a huge variety of prices to take in. Not to mention a ton of recommendations from friends! I am a huge believer in planning so my advice to you is to look around, give yourself time, no rushing. Find a photographer who you think you’d feel comfortable with, but more importantly you fall in love with their work. When that fit is right, ah magical things happen! If that photographer is me, let’s chat!
Firstly I must say that this new family totally rock. They’ve gone through a lockdown pregnancy and become parents in the oddest of times. Becoming a parent is never easy but in these uncertain times everything is heightened and I have the biggest respect for all of you going through this. I first met this couple whilst capturing my neighbours as part of my Doorstep Diary, they then went on to book me for their maternity photographs. I mean look, just look how cool they are!
Their laid back nature mixed with my relaxed storyteller approach was the perfect combination for planning their newborn photoshoot! Now usually I’d pack up my car and head to my clients home, but they happen to live literally a road away from me – shopping trolley to the rescue! I don’t always come with more than my camera bag but they had requested some studio style images at the end.
As with all my newborn at home sessions we made use of their bedroom and their lounge. These tend to be the places you spend the most time! Spot their stunning maternity canvas on the wall –
We had our newborn photo shoot with Sarah and just loved her from the moment she arrived at our home. She was warm, pleasant and passionate throughout the session. She understood the need of the baby and did not rush us through the shoot. We will definitely have future sessions for our little one with Sarah.
We also headed to their lovely light and airy kitchen. I think this room can so often be overlooked when we think of creating photographs but I love it, it’s the hub of the home.
Throughout our session, as with all newborn photo shoots, we took breaks. Breaks for feeding, nappy changes or for a settling walk around the house. I can capture these moments for you or simply take an extra step back to give you a breather. We finished off our session with a small studio set up in their lounge.
It’s never too early to start planning for your newborn session. My own baby days are behind me so I’m always up for some pre baby chat! Just £100 secures your booking with me where I’ll pencil in some dates, then once baby arrives we will decide on our date.
