TrueYou – Where it all began
Like many women, especially Mothers, I tend to put everyone else’s needs before my own. I have worked with many women over the years and noticed how they often shy away from my lens, instead willing the focus to be on their children. Many are wishing they looked different, willing their bodies to be smaller, for their hair to be thicker or simply to be a “better” version of themselves. They feel unimportant and certainly not worthy of a print on their walls. And I feel you, I get it.
But isn’t time we fought against our insecurities and start to break free from all the negativity we feel towards ourselves? I certainly think so!
In the Spring of 2017 I decided to finally launch female empowerment sessions. I named them “Embrace” and four women joined me in the oilseed rape fields for an evening. We talked about Motherhood and how we all felt about our bodies. We laughed, we shared ideas on how to encourage ourselves to change our views about ourselves. We ended the evening with a beautiful photo shoot and all left buzzing with positivity.
Then I became unwell and I completely lost the momentum, I lost my strength. Years of dreaming about empowering women through these sessions and I simply couldn’t do it. Low iron, labyrinthitis, endometriosis flare ups and anxiety attacks all meant I needed to take a break. I was gutted.
Now, I’m feeling stronger than I have in a long time. I sought help for my anxiety, I’ve been officially diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis from my laparoscopy last year and I’m ready to take this leap once again!
BUT, Embrace didn’t feel right. It didn’t sound right either and I needed to take time to think about what this new branch to my business was all about. I have pages and pages of words and at times I didn’t feel that I would ever find the right one! Yet here we are, welcome to …
