A vintage inspired cake smash! {Birthday Photo Shoot}

At the end of June 2015 (yes it’s taken me this long to blog this!) my niece, my sister in law and I headed out for an outdoor cake smash! She was about to turn 2 and we thought why not do a cake smash and mix it with my love of outdoor sessions. We settled on a vintage inspired theme for her birthday photo shoot with pretty pink details.

So we obviously needed a cake. I knew the colours and style I wanted. A small two tiered cake. Details wise I wasn’t sure so decided to give my cake maker free rein on that and she made the most beautiful cake! Her sugar work is just outstanding and to my amazement her flower matched perfectly with the headband I’d bought the week before! She hadn’t seen it! I adore this vintage inspired look.

We got to the location and whilst I arranged the cake set up my niece got changed. Honestly how cute is this dress?! (it’s available for you to use for 1st and 2nd birthdays). We began with some playing in the long grass.

Then onto the cake! She took big bites, we encouraged her to put the icing on her face and she ended up putting her foot in it!

I loved collecting all the props for this session. We had a great morning playing with the cake and running around. It was a great way to mark her 2nd birthday.
