A vintage inspired child portrait session

A little while ago I spotted the most gorgeous chair on a local selling site… Yes I’m chair obsessed! There’s no hiding it and I’ve decided to truly embrace this love by introducing vintage child portrait sessions. I’ve been collecting outfits for a while now and this chair collection is ever-growing. All the details and colours just please my eyes no end. My mind wonders imagining who might have sat on these chairs in the past, the type of homes they were a part of and thoughts of an era I may have been more suited to! I had this overwhelming need to show it (maybe her?!) off and what better way than to run a model call. I had a vision of a child who could sit unaided and who might like to pull up on it too. Then I spotted her, little Hetty, I just knew she would be perfect. She had some gorgeous baby rolls, strawberry blonde hair and a face that to me looked like it would suit a vintage look.

This session was to take place on a beautiful summers evening. The light was to die for, the area was peaceful and I was eager to get started. I brought along a variety of outfits and precious little headbands. The first was my newest addition and may be more suited to a slightly younger baby but I couldn’t resist trying it out! I teamed it with the most delicate of tiebacks with the smallest dainty flowers. I positioned my chair and we got started.

As she sat there I couldn’t help but smile. My thoughts had become a reality and she was just perfect. She gave me some amazing serious faces which I always adore. Her Mummy assured me this wasn’t her usual happy smiley self so of course I was keen to bring put some smiles for her to keep! We played some peekaboo and then I suddenly remembered my beaded necklace amongst my dresses so we let her have a play, she loved it!

It was a great evening. I created images that I’d imagined, Hetty was perfect and it was lovely to chat to her Mummy. She’s a babywearing Mummy too and inevitably our conversation ended with some slingy chat… There was a very gorgeous wrap poking out of her bag! Thank you for meeting me in a field on a beautiful summers evening to create these images with me.

I’ll be announcing some dates and new packages very soon. Keep an eye on my page for that. Or if you’d love to hear first then let me know your email address and I’ll add you to my mailing list.
