Growing up Project – Turning 2! {Birthday Sessions}

9th August 2016

Last week 7 families including my own met up in Highwoods country park for Year 2 of my Growing up Project. It was a bit surreal being back in the same spot with all our toddlers running around! Last year only one was walking and the rest mostly crawled. Here they all were big and full of energy!

This year’s theme was “Country bumpkins” and I asked parents to dress their children in denim, red gingham and braces. Little farmers ready to explore, munch on some apples and get stuck into a big slice of watermelon! There was always a chance that one or more children wouldn’t be able to make it but I was overjoyed that all 7 were there. One little boy was even now a big brother!

So here they are, my Growing up Project cuties all turning 2 this summer.

I took each family to a quiet spot for their individual portraits. I always like to create a calm, relaxed and safe atmosphere when photographing children, especially when they are younger.

April I think was a little impatient for her turn! Here she is with her arms folded, those bunches though…

We didn’t manage a group shot this year but I knew this year might be the toughest. There were some tears, giggles, frowny faces, children who just wanted Mummy cuddles and lots of eating! Pretty much sums up being 2 I think!

If you’d like to take a look back at Year 1 you’ll find it here. Here’s a little peek at behind the scenes, wow there were a lot of us! 7 children, parents and siblings!

On to year 3…. My absolute favourite age to photograph! (shhhh don’t tell anyone!)
